Overview

The Albino Cardinal Tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi) is an uncommon, variant of the popular Cardinal Tetra. This species shares most of its physical characteristics, but features a lighter red and blue coloration, with distinctive purple/pink eyes.

Behavior

Albino Cardinal Tetras typically occupy the top and middle levels of the water column. They can often be seen in the middle and bottom levels, where they engage in feeding. They are highly active and social fish, thriving in schools of six or more.

Compatibility

These tetras are safe with other peaceful, small fish. While adult dwarf shrimp are generally safe, Albino Cardinal Tetras may eat small shrimp and their fry. Larger, peaceful invertebrates are also good tankmates.

Housing

To mimic their natural habitat, keep Albino Cardinal Tetras in a tank that is soft and acidic, containing soft, acidic water rich in tannins and leaf litter. This environment helps maintain the vibrant coloration of these tetras.
